 Announcing CounterPoint Shipping (CPSHIP).

A new product for Synchronics CounterPoint software!

 What does it do?

CPSHIP automatically passes shipping address information from CounterPoint to your shipping software so you no longer have to manually re-key this data. It also allows you to update the freight information in CounterPoint based on the calculated amount in the shipping software. Finally, it passes the Tracking Number from your shipping software back to CounterPoint.

 

How does it do it?

A new menu selection is added to the CounterPoint menu. This prompts the user for an order number to be processed (with the usual F9 lookup option as well). After the number is entered, this information becomes immediately available to the shipping software. The ship-to address and ship-via is quickly pulled into the shipping software, where the shipment is completed. The shipping software then passes back to the CounterPoint program the freight and tracking information so it can be updated. The tracking information can be stored in either the new tracking number fields in the 7.5.2 release or in the five user defined fields in both OE and PS, so it’s available for viewing as long as the sales history information remains on your system.

 

What shipping software does it work with?

CPSHIP works with both UPS WorldShip (for shippers who only process UPS shipments) and Starship Software. UPS WorldShip software is available free of charge to UPS shippers. Starship software is available through your Synchronics dealer and is manufactured by V-Technologies. Starship allows you to ship not only UPS but also FedEX, USPS, and others.

 þ     Works with all operating systems of CounterPoint from version 7.5.x.

þ     Directly transfers ship-to address for CounterPoint to shipping software. This
avoids shipping to the wrong customer or incorrect address. It also eliminates
manually entering the address in the shipping software.

þ     Works seamlessly with CPONLINE 7.5.2 and higher in terms of uploading tracking numbers back to the web site.

þ     Passes email address from CounterPoint to the shipping software so that you can send an email confirmation of the shipment to the customer.

þ     Passes the CounterPoint PO Number and Customer Number to reference fields in the shipping software.

þ     Optionally passes the CounterPoint calculated weight as default weight to the shipping software.

þ     Allows all shipments to default to “Residential” in the shipping software (so the shipper does not have to check this field manually).

þ     Optionally sets ship date and/or picking date in CounterPoint to the system date when the order is processed with CPSHIP. This allows group order selection by date for billing and printing.

þ     Warns if a tracking number already exists in CounterPoint at the time of shipment. This alerts the shipper that the order may have already been processed.

þ     Provides multi-user shipping capability.  Also allows a single user version of CPSHIP for single shipper workstations with a multi-user CounterPoint license.

þ     Allows processing shipments for PS tickets also (but does not write freight charges back to tickets).

þ     Provides for extensive credit checking including: Credit Limits, Credit Status, Past Due, and Order Hold.  Each of these situations can be configured to either STOP the order from being processed further, WARN the shipper of the situation, ASK the shipper if they want to continue the order, do NOTHING and ignore a particular credit check.

 þ     Provides for very flexible shipping charge calculations back into CounterPoint.  For example, you can do things like “if the customer type is “W”, add $1.00 to the calculated freight amount, but if they are “R” add $2.00”.  Or perhaps, something like “if the customer is from the state of “CA”, add $5.00, if from “ME” subtract $1.00, but if their customer profile field #3 is set to “SPECIAL” don’t charge them at all!  Currently these fields are provided for special freight calculations: customer category, the five user defined fields in PS and OE, the 15 Customer Profile Fields, the ship via field in the customer file, the ship via field in the order, the customer’s state, and the customer type.
